Johannesburg - Monday 12 November 2007. Earlier today a kulula.com flight MN103 from Johannesburg to Cape Town returned to Johannesburg 40 minutes into the flight. After experiencing low oil pressure on one of the aircrafts two engines, as a precautionary measure the captain voluntarily shut down the engine.
The aircraft, an MD82, landed safely in Johannesburg just after 1pm. All customers on the flight have been accommodated on other flights.
According to Martin Louw, Head of Flight Operations, "The Captain made the correct call to return to Johannesburg based on the maintenance support at our main base and handled the situation correctly."
Certain knock on delays on other flights are being experienced today. Louw continued "We apologize to our customers who have been delayed today as a result."
