Seating can be a subject of anxiety for a lot of travellers. Your seat is usually assigned to you when you check-in at the airport counter. You can select a seat online 24 hours prior to departure but by this time seats are limited and it’s not guaranteed you’ll get the seat you want. Because we want you to love flying as much as we do, you can now pre-book your seat for just R35 (incl. VAT) and choose a view of the clouds or a quick exit at the aisle.

Attention all pedal fans! It’s stressful enough having to worry about training and keeping healthy in time for the big day. We’ve tried to take a little weight off your shoulders by offering bike drop-off service, an option that gives you peace of mind that your bike will arrive in Cape Town in time for the Argus.

You are still able to check your bike in as excess baggage at the ‘extra bags’ fee of R250 online, but please be aware that with this standard option there is a possibility that your bike may not arrive on time. Please take this into account especially due to the high volumes over this period.

The procedures below will ensure that your bike gets to Cape Town safely. So have a quick glimpse and if you have any questions please contact us on 0861 KULULA (585852).

Bike handling will cost R300 per bike per flight so that it arrives safely and timeously for the race.

This fee must be paid for before your departure date by calling our Contact Centre 0861 KULULA (585852) between 7am to 7pm Monday to Sunday. Payment will not be accepted on the day of departure at the airports.

Important info for all riders

You must be in possession of your booking reference number and proof of handling fee payment before your bike will be accepted.
We recommend you place your bike on your private insurance.
Leave early for the airport to have enough time to book the bike in through cargo. It’s best to drop your bike off between 1 – 9 March before 12pm and collected from the 12th March onwards.
Travel with your flight reference number, bike handling fee proof, and your ID book.
After the race, bikes can only be released to the person in possession of the handling fee document.
We will make every effort to have your bike in Cape Town before you arrive or on the same flight, but we can’t guarantee this due to the volume of bicycles and space restrictions on our aircraft.
For your trip home, if we haven’t been able to put your bike on your flight, please allow 2-3 days for us to get it home. Call the relevant station (numbers below) before you pick it up.

How to pack your bike:

In order to ensure your bike is delivered in perfect condition, please take special note of the following packing procedures:

The seat must be fully lowered
Turn the handlebars parallel to the frame
Leave the front wheel attached
Remove or turn the pedals inwards
Deflate your tyres (no nitrogen pumped tyres please)
Your bike must be placed in a bike bag or box, or wrapped in bubble wrap
Bicycle inflation pumps filled with division 2.2 carbon dioxide non-flammable gas will be accepted for transportation as checked baggage only. The maximum amount per passenger is limited to four 16 gram cartridges
Remove speedometers and electronic equipment and pack into your hand luggage
Wheel-bags must be checked-in
Pack spare wheels properly
At check-in, keep the limited release tag for collection

Failure to adhere to these rules and procedures will mean your bike will not be permitted for carriage.

If you are travelling between 1 and 10 March, you need to deliver your bike at least 3 to 7 days prior to departure. Drop your bikes off between the 1 - 9 March 2013.
The handling fee document, booking reference, green bar-coded ID, and limited release tag is needed for collection.

To get a travelbank account, you’ll need to create a kulula ID, this helps us associate the credit to a person. Then give our Contact Centre a call to credit your ID with a travelbank account.

Travelbank is used to pay / part pay for a kulula or British Airways (operated by Comair Limited) flight booking only. No combination bookings (flight plus car / hotel) or flight extras can be bought using travelbank. Any kulula moolah you may have had, has already been saved in an account. Simply log into kulula ID using the old jetsetter log in details and password to access travelbank and pay for flights.

Infants or ‘mini fans’ can fly for only R125 per trip (incl. VAT but excludes airport taxes) and must travel on the laps of accompanied by a legal guardian. Tiny humans can only travel from 7 days old if the pregnancy was a minimum of 31 weeks, up to 2 years of age on the date of travel. Be safe and consult with your Doctor before you fly. There must always be one adult to accompany each infant i.e. twins will need 2 accompanying adults.

We know that these precious bundles of joy need a lot of stuff, so they are entitled to 1 free checked bag weighing up to 20kg plus a collapsible pushchair and a child car seat for free. No additional bags may be purchased for infants.

Premature babies (born at less than 31 weeks) will require approval to travel and parents/guardians should call our Contact Centre on 0861 KULULA (585852) for further assistance.

Infants that turn 2 years old before their trip was booked will be required to book an adult ticket. If a birthday is celebrated while away the return trip back must be paid as an adult ticket. They do grow up so fast; all kids aged 2 years and over must pay the full adult ticket.

Children (aged 2 to 12 years) must have their own ticket and be accompanied by an adult aged 16 years or older. For every 5 kids (aged 2 to 12 years) travelling will need 1 adult to accompany them. They are entitled to travel with 1 free checked bag weighing up to 20kg plus a collapsible pushchair and a child car seat for free.

Kids over the age of 12 years can travel unaccompanied. We cannot offer an unaccompanied minor service; they need to big enough to travel themselves.

Please remember to include your little angels in your booking to avoid the unnecessary trouble of having to re-book your flights.

And to all our pregnant fairies, unfortunately pregnant mums can't fly after 36 weeks and mums between 32-36 weeks will need a doctor's consent form to take to the skies.

In fact, these aeroplanes burn 26% less fuel than the MD82 airline fleet we previously operated. That is a load of carbon emissions we're saving, which ties in with our efforts to go green – 'cause we haven't quite cracked bio-fuel for airplanes yet!
