The 5 different types of travelling moms

There’s nothing quite like a ‘local is lekker’ family holiday for making lifelong memories. In anticipation of Mother’s Day, we’ve put together a list of the 5 different types of travelling moms. Which one are you?
1. The over-packed and over-prepared
This mom has thought of every possible eventuality and made doubly sure she’s prepared to deal with whatever tantrum or crisis comes her way.
Easily identified by: her well-organised carry-on that she’s transformed into something of a magical Mary Poppins carpet bag that just keeps on giving.
2. The under-packed and under-prepared
This mom plans on winging it. As long as she’s got the basics covered, she’s pretty sure everything will be fine (spoiler alert: it usually isn’t!).
Easily identified by: her vomit/nappy blow-out covered jersey post-flight. Yup. She remembered to pack a change of clothes for the kids, but unfortunately didn’t think to pack a spare shirt for herself. It’s happened to all of us!
3. The terrified first-timer
This mom has finally decided it’s time to take the plunge and travel a bit further afield for the very first time since having kids. She’s nervous… and it shows!
Easily identified by: her wide-eyed, far-away stare as she contemplates what she’s gotten herself into. Be kind.
4. The ‘make-the-most-of-this-holiday’ mom
This mom needs a break – and she’s planning on taking it, starting from the moment she sets foot in the airport!
Easily identified by: her noise-cancelling headphones in one hand and the latest Danielle Steel paperback in the other (which she plans on reading in peace while dad deals with the kids).
5. The techie traveller
This mom knows she’s going to need all the help she can get to make it through the flight with her sanity intact. So she’s turned to technology. Her philosophy is that extra screen time doesn’t count when you’re in the air!
Easily identified by: her kids, each with their eyes glued to a tablet and a massive smile on their faces.
Luckily, there’s no need to be anxious about travelling with kids when you choose to fly with kulula. We’ve got the comfort of the ‘mini fans’ (under twos), toddlers, children and teens covered. Did you know that our ‘mini fans’ fly for just 15% of the adult fare and get rewarded with a certificate to mark the occasion?
