Fan favourite: kulula adds feathers to its cap
December 18, 2008: Based on an independent consumer survey, kulula.com was voted 'Best Low Cost Airline'> at George and PE airports as part of the fifth annual Feather Awards, presented by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) to recognise service excellence. As the country's leading e-tailer, the airline proved they are a firm favourite among domestic air travellers.
"We're pleased that South Africans recognise our refreshingly simple approach to everything that we do, from our website to every offline interaction," commented Nadine Damen, Marketing Manager for kulula.com.
kulula's popularity was highlighted recently by the success of a R27 million 'garage sale'. In one day alone, the airline sold 55 000 air tickets, had 145 000 website visitors and served over one million Web pages!
"Based on the strong brand respect that we've earned over the years, we recently broadened our product offerings to include cell phones, mobile Internet access and holiday packages – all of which can be simply purchased online," added Damen.
One of kulula's staff - Dee Lippert - was also awarded by ACSA, taking home George airport's 'Best Airport Manager' award.
"The fact that one of our staff members has made such an impression on our fans is testament to kulula's customer-centric culture and another feather in our cap," says Damen.
