Changes and add-ons

If your travel plans change, don’t stress! Making online changes to your flight booking is easy peasy. Booked a flight with a car or hotel? Not to worry, have at look at the other booking changes section. For more information on changing your combo or holiday package booking.

Flight date and time changes 

Change your flight date and time online up to 2 hours prior to flight departure. Keep in mind that online changes to flight dates and times can only be done once and the cost associated with changing your booking may vary depending on the type of fare brand (ticket) you've purchased.

Add flight extras, Choose or Change Seats

Why not make your flight extra comfy? You can also add extra bags, Q-Jump, SLOW Lounge access (Lanseria only) up to 2 hours prior to departure, or pre-paid seats up to 24 hours prior to departure.  More about available flight extras.

Update traveller contact details 

Things change, and so do contact details. It’s important for us to have the latest contact details for our travellers to make sure they don’t miss out on important updates regarding their booking, or during the travel journey. Unfortunately, no name changes can be made, but customers are able to update mobile numbers and email address for travellers online. More on name corrections and name changes.

Should you require any special assistance at the airport, please complete the online booking form once you have made a flight booking. If your flight departs within 48 hours, please call our Contact Centre immediately to make the required arrangements.

Name corrections and name changes

Traveller’s details need to match their ID or Passport exactly. Name corrections are permitted (at no cost) and can be done through our Contact Centre. Name changes however are not allowed for any flight bookings. Name corrections will be permitted in the following instances:

  • Spelling changes/spelling error corrections
  • Changes to last name due to marriage/divorce (with supplied proof)
  • Changes to titles and academic titles (e.g.: ‘Miss’ to ‘Mrs’; ‘Ms’ to ‘Prof’)
  • Swapping last names and first names around

Please note: If you already made online changes to your flight booking, please call the Contact Centre for further changes.

Cancellations

If you'd like to cancel your flight booking, call our Contact Centre with your reference code prior to flight departure. There may be a 100% cancellation fee to cancel a flight booking (subject to the fare brand you purchased).

Group booking changes and cancellations

Changes on the return flight have to be finalised no later than 2 weeks prior to departure. A change of booking will be charged at R300.00 (excl. VAT) per person per sector plus any difference in fare if applicable.

A 100% cancellation fee applies to all group bookings.

Missed flights

Rebooking options and no-shows

Should you fail to check in within the allocated time prior to scheduled departure or board at the stipulated time, you will be regarded as a no-show and will forfeit your seat as well as the fare that is allocated to that leg of your flight reservation. A no-show is not entitled to a refund for the value of the flight missed. Your return or onward flight segments will also be cancelled but will retain their value and may be rebooked upon request. Depending on the type of ticket initially purchased you may incur a rebooking fee plus the difference in price between the new and old ticket. Any cost incurred as a result of you missing your flight will be for your own account.

If you are running late or are unable to make your original booked flight, we suggest that you rebook for a new flight or advise us at least 45 minutes prior to the departure of your flight via the kulula Contact Centre in order to avoid your flights being cancelled.

We recommend the following to avoid flight cancellation:

  • At least 2 hours before flight departure; rebook another flight online i.e. change your flight date or time. Simply change your booking and apply changes, or here if you are a Discovery Vitality member. Alternatively, call our friendly Contact Centre for assistance.
  • At least 45 minutes before flight departure; call our Contact Centre to assist with rebooking for the next available flight.

Airline network

If you're flying with a partner airline, please visit the partner airline’s website or reach out to their Contact Centre to view your travel itinerary, make any changes or add extra’s to your booking.

Other booking changes

Changes to the following bookings cannot be made online, please call 0861 KULULA (585852) for any changes needed.

Car hire

For any changes to your car hire please call our Contact Centre, this includes cancellations. You are able to make changes to your car hire dates and car group if available. When making changes to dates or times of your car hire, we’ll do our best to offer you the same vehicle type (make & model) but we cannot guarantee that this will always be possible. Unfortunately no name changes allowed with Discovery Vitality car hire bookings. Please refer to ‘Combine and save’ below if you have booked a car together with your flight and need to make changes.

Hotels

Name changes are not allowed. Any change request will need to be cancelled and re-booked. Unfortunately the same price and availability cannot be not guaranteed. Cancellation fees may apply. Please refer to ‘Combine and save’ or ‘Holiday packages’ below if you have booked a hotel together with your flight or as part of a holiday package and need to make changes.

Combine and save

If you’ve hired a car or booked accommodation together with your flight, please email our Contact Centre on combos@kulula.com with your booking reference code and one of our dedicated team members will attend to your needs to ensure that your journey elements are amended. Read more on building your own travel package to combine & save.

Holiday packages

Fees and charges

Please note: Rebooking of flights and other booking changes are subject to availability, may incur a service fee if made using our online channels or through our Contact Centre, and is depended on the fare brand (ticket) selected at the time of booking.
