Johannesburg - 19 January 2007. kulula.com, South Africa's biggest online retailer sold over 37 000 tickets in its "Get back to Holiday" sale yesterday, breaking its previous record in the last sale that was held.
Most of the tickets were sold on the airline's website with peak sales occurring between 6am, when the sale started, and 2pm.
Nadine Damen, kulula.com's Marketing Manager said, "Our one-day sales have become a feature that our fans look forward to and they are an initiative that keeps surpassing our expectations. kulula.com fans can look forward to more sales throughout the year and will, as always, be notified exclusively via fan mail."
kulula credit card holders were given the first stab at buying the discounted tickets and earned 6% back in kulula moolah from their ticket purchases.
The sale was cheekily dubbed the, "Get back to Holiday" sale as, "we were feeling a bit left out because we don't have any discounted stationary to sell so we decided to give our fans a big fat discount on our flights instead," said Damen.
